Here is a leaked and legit picture of the upcoming MBP at the Special Event in the Cupertino Campus scheduled later today. Looking at the picture, no big changes done physically and who knows what Apple has instore for the guts of this laptop.

Heres a quick runthrough of what we might expect:

  • Rumours of a $899 macbook are false, this is the reported price tag of a 24″ Cinema Display.
  • Macbook Pro will feature a glass touchpad which the user can “click” when it is pressed down.
  • MBP will also offer multi-touch gestures on the touchpad and will not include firewire ports.
  • Macbook will be using a new battery so expect extended battery lifes for all lineups.
  • MacBook Airs will be updated with a larger 120GB hard drive and larger 128GB SSD option
  • MAcbooks and MBPs will be using – Hybrid SLI® technology, based on NVIDIA’s industry-leading SLI technology, delivers multi-GPU (graphics processing unit) benefits when an NVIDIA motherboard GPU is combined with an NVIDIA discrete GPU

Possible Macbook Configurations and Pricing:

  • – $999: 2.0 GHZ, 1 GB memory, 100/120 GB Disk
  • – $1299: 2.1 GHz, 2 GB memory, 160 GB disk
  • – $1499: 2.4 GHz, 2 GB memory, 250 GB disk

(If you look closely at the picture, you will not see a toupad click because it is a glass pad which can be clicked.)

First Look: Blackberry “Javelin” 8900 (2009 Model) October 12, 2008

We all know how popular the BB Curve is, we know that it has one of the best QWERTY keyboards you can find on any smartphone, and we all know its Blackberry, now BB is going to be releasing the model which will take over the BB Throne in which the Curve has been sitting on for the longest time.

I was lucky enough to have a hands-on preview of the javelin or the BB 8900 from an unknown source which I would like to name “Raspberry.” My first impression when I held the device was, “Wow, this phone snuggles on my hand and it is pretty light.” Thats right, the design is well-thought out, it is surprising light with a battery on, and it boasts a 3.2 mega-pixel camera (nice!). Moving on to the important aspect of the phone and that is the keyboard. The QWERTY keyboard is awesome, I typed out an email using the keyboard and it was very responsive, less errors due to the overall layout of the keys, and I can confirm that my typing experience was far better than on the iPhone 3G. (sigh!)

Unfortunately, the device isnt 3G enabled but it does use the Edge Network, which is not bad but will pull off some users who are very dependent on a serious data plans. But in my own personal experience, a edge network is far more than sufficient for email and basic web browsing but not multimedia (when did BB adopt multimedia in the first place!).

Another thing they improved would be the software and interface, a completely a new design, the BB Bold was the first device released with the new software, very intuitive, quick launch of applications is located at the bottom of the screen, completely new and fresh (phew! its about time!)

The “Javelin” or the BB 8900 is lining up to be a very impressive device using the BB Curve as a foundation, it is certainly going to line up as one of the hottest BBs around.

No date has been confirmed for it’s release but be sure to hold up any future smartphone purchases as this should be the phone you need to keep your eye on.

RUMOUR ALERT! – Leaked Macbook & MBP Casing Pictures October 12, 2008

For the past few days, leaked pictures of the aluminum -built macbooks and macbook pros have been surfacing around the internet by many sources, this is surely confirming that they will be either revealed or released on October 14th at the Cupertino campus in a small keynote conference.

Looking at the pictures, very similar design between the two, they are adopting the Macbook Air style keyboard with a 3mm space between each key in this year’s redesign. I also read in may sources that the new macbooks will be using the new Nvidia Chipsets and the Firewire 400 will be removed as well.

I cant really tell alot from these hi-res pictures that were leaked but it will be only 3 days from now when you will be able to see the new macbook which I’m sure everyone is waiting for.

Sources from AppleInsider and MacX are predicting that Apple is lining up the cheapest macbook to be in the regional price of $899. It  has been a consistent move from Apple this year to reduce all their prices  (I think they should after the financial crisis in the US), Apple reduced the prices of the iPhones and iPods, its time to move into their laptop lineups.

Fingers crossed!

I wish I was able to get more info regarding Apple TV, I’m lining myself up to buy the new Apple TV and their dual driver Apple In-Ear Earphones but so far no news. Shit!

**RUMOUR ALERT – Possible Macbook Pro Pictures Leaked (OCT, 2008) September 26, 2008

Posted by Neal Atienza in Mac News.

I stumbled on some very interesting pictures at Apple Insider (images courtesy of them) and it shows an interesting MBP. Dont know if it is real, or fake, but it looks believable.

If you notice at the picture, a glass touchpad is designed, just like the iPhone screen with multitouch, rumours have surfaced about this “glass touchpad” and also there are rumours about Apple cutting down ports and using the same Heatsink Aluminum built. Having a more curvy edged look, the new Macbook redesign will be following the same build as the MBPs. Apple will also we announcing their new In-Ear Headphones (listed on apple.ca).

It is certainly heating up to the October 14th keynote conference, but still no news about Apple’s secret project codenamed “The Brick”.

I will post more possible rumours and information.

MacInBlog’s Top 5 iTunes + iPod Tips September 3, 2008

iTunes played a major role in the music scene as it is a required program to transfer and sync with the millions and millions of iPods around the world. Whether we like to use itunes or not, here are some useful tips to keep your albums organized and build up your music collection for any type of iPod.

Tip #1 – The type of sync you use with your iPod could make your life easy or difficult, automatic sync will add all checked songs and videos into your iPod (easy huh…) but if you are tight with space and is real picky which albums you have on there, manual sync is the way to go.  You can set your iPod to manual in the iPod summary page whenever you plug it into iTunes, and once its checked, you can easily remove albums from your iPod and drag sets of songs or albums into your iPod giving you the ability to control the content in and out of your iPod.

Tip #2 – Using the EQ of any iPod requires additional battery, so keeping it off would mean better battery life while, keeping it on may make a difference on how you listen to your music (I use the Bose In-Ear headphones and I keep my EQ to trebel booster. sounds sooo much better). Keep this in mind, especially if you are dangling with your battery life.

Tip #3 – Using playlists is an integral part of iTunes, you are able to create new playlists (theres a button on the bottom left hand corner of the window or right click on the library and click newplaylist.

Once this empty playlist is created, you are able to drag and drop your favourite tracks in an particular order or not and you can also drag the playlist into your iPod (if you set yours to manual sync, automatic sync includes playlists).

Tip #4 – All the latest generation iPods use “coverflow” to view albums, this view is catching on as users are able to browse their music albums just as they would if they have a music collection stored somewhere. It is important that you are able to add album art into your albums,  you can either google image the album name or if you select the bunch of songs of the album and right click on them, you will be able to find an option “Get Album Artwork”. It is important you tag all your songs properly

Tip #5 – Make sure you update your iTunes and iPod firmware when it prompts, it is important that you have the up-to-date software so that you can stay away from those glitches and bugs. It is also important to keep in mind that you should format your iPod once and a while so that it doesnt slow down on you and crash the harddrive.

Game Review: Metal Gear Solid 4 – Guns of the Patriots (PS3) August 26, 2008

Solid Snake is back and better than ever. After what has seemed like an eternity of waiting, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is here, and not only is it a stunning achievement in terms of technical aspects (this game utilizes what the PS3 is capable of like nothing you have ever seen before), but it also conveys one of the deepest and most engrossing storylines that you will ever come across in a video game. Yes, as you have no doubt heard by now, the game features some quite lengthy cut-scenes that seemingly pop up out of nowhere in the middle of gameplay. While this can get annoying, nearly everything else about Metal Gear Solid 4 is simply flawless. The storyline, what little can be mentioned without giving away a barrage of spoilers, finds an aging Snake in the middle of Liquid Ocelot’s new, destructive plans. Familiar faces are abound as well, which will lead to many surprises and shocks, even for the most hardcore of Metal Gear Solid fans. As said before, Metal Gear Solid 4 boasts the best audio and visual presentation you will ever see in a video game. Quite frankly, this game is a gorgeous sight to behold.

Gameplay wise, the game offers up some equally impressive shooting and stealth mechanics, while the boss fights are nothing short of epic. Online multiplayer modes seem to be the only aspect of MGS4 that don’t conjure up the awe-inspiring moments that the rest of the game does, but they are fun on their own regardless.

Playing MGS4 in my new 40” LCD was the best combo, it just made the experience a lot better and I even ran out of words when I switched on MGS for the very first time. I’ve been a MGS fan since the debut of the first game in the series and it is safe to say that Hideo Kojima and Konami have delivered amazing games year in and year out. You can find reviews for MGS online and you will see how good this game is, every aspect is done with great detail and pulls the gamer into the storyline. From slow-mo action sequences, war-torn environments, stealth missions and ultimate battlefields, this game covers every single aspect with stunning cut sequences.

Words alone can’t do this game justice though. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is by far and large the best game to come out on the PS3 thus far, and without a doubt is one of the finest video games to ever see the light of day. I just finished the game and I am already planning to play the game again in a harder mode, plus I have online play so that my copy of MGS doesn’t collect dust! Yes, it really is that good, and if you have been waiting for that PS3 “killer app”, your wait is over.

So I stumbled across some leaked pictures of the next generation iPod which everyone knows that it is due this September (excited?), pictures are courtesy of Digg/Engadget and I also read reports of iPod cases being created of the same shape by many companies out there. I’m not a big fan of rumours and I dont know how solid the leaked pictures are. When the leaked pictures of the iPhone 3G surfaced, we all know that it was indeed the final design so what do you think about this leaked picture? I’m guessing, probably not!
